Independent Energy Solutions Merges with E² Electrical Contractors
Independent Energy Solutions, Inc. (IES), a leading renewable energy development and design/build firm today announced it has acquired the assets and personnel of E² Electrical Contractors, Inc. E² owner, Donovan P. Jones, becomes IES’ director of construction with the merger adding 6 employees to the IES roster.
According to IES Executive Vice President, Troy Strand, “This cements a close working relationship IES has had with E² for the past 4 years. E² has been electrical contractor of choice for our major solar electric projects due to the skills and excellence of Donovan Jones and his work force. As director of construction, Donovan will be responsible for all field activities and enable our combined organizations to handle even larger projects effectively and efficiently.”
Jones, age 35, founded E² in 2001 and has been working with IES since 2003. He is a licensed electrical contractor in California and Arizona with certifications in photovoltaics (PV), on-site power generation and data/telecommunications. E² has installed more than 100 PV systems worldwide.

Linda Strand Receives NAWBO San Diego "2008 Green Community Award"

Solar Carport Shines for US Navy

Independent Energy Solutions (IES) today announced completion of a 68.6 kW solar electric carport for the US Navy at Naval Station Pt. Loma in San Diego, California. The system consists of 330 photovoltaic panels designed to produce about 80,000 kWh of electricity per year or enough to power about 14 homes.
According to Linda Strand, IES President, "This project is a great illustration of IES' commitment to designing and building creative and cost-effective renewable energy solutions for our military forces."

Kyocera & IES Announce Children's Museum Installation
Kyocera Solar, Inc., a world-leading supplier of environmentally friendly photovoltaic (PV) systems, today announced the completion of a 96.4-kilowatt solar electric generating system atop the newly redesigned Children’s Museum San Diego (CMSD).
The system, composed of 576 Kyocera 200-watt PV modules, was designed and installed by Independent Energy Solutions, Inc. (IES) of Vista, California, and is expected to generate approximately 136,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per year.

Troy Strand Snags Federal Energy Award
The U.S. Department of Energy's Federal Interagency Energy Policy Committee presented its 2007 Federal Energy and Water Management Award to IES Vice President, Troy Strand, for exceptional accomplishments in the efficient use of energy in the Federal Sector.
Mr. Strand has long been an advocate for renewable energy solutions and has worked on numerous DOD photovoltaic and hybrid energy projects.
