Dear valued customers, suppliers and business partners:

As we look back on 2009 and forward to 2010 and beyond, all of us at Independent Energy Solutions (IES) extend our deepest thanks to you, our customers and stakeholders, for continuing to make IES an industry leader for photovoltaic and renewable energy solutions.

In the 12 years since IES was founded, we've seen unbelievable changes -- both in our company and in the technology we live and breathe. Where once a 20kW installation was considered large, we're now regularly designing and building megawatt-sized systems for businesses, utilities and the public sector. From computerized electronic monitoring and power management systems to complex charge controllers, battery storage and conventional generation integration, we are doing more interesting and challenging projects every day.

2009 was a year of tremendous growth for us. IES was awarded a number of large utility and military contracts which have now been completed including several showcase utility-scale and global installations:

  • 151kW PV system - US Embassy in Rwanda 493kW PV system - Wilco / SDG&E Sustainable Communites
  • 220kW carport PV system - Naval Base San Diego
  • 500kW PV system - Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego
  • 1mW Hybrid/cogen system - Bahamas Overyonder Cay
  • 240kW PV system - Amylin Pharmaceuticals / SDGE Sustainable Communities

So what's next?

First, we continue to add to our highly skilled workforce to handle the growing demand for our solar solutions. Second, we have put in place a new project management system & team that improves our ability to deliver ever larger and more complex projects on-time and on-budget. In fact, IES has recently been awarded three megawatt-plus projects.

Third, we continue to leverage our manufacturer direct supply chain and in-house crews for maximum cost effectiveness from system concept to commissioning. Fourth, IES remains committed to excellence in customer service --whether it's helping you process a rebate or going the extra mile to find that perfect solution for your unique site and energy requirements.

Finally, I am personally committed to social and environmental responsibility in everything IES does. From working with deserving charities and educational organizations to promoting volunteerism among our employees, we will leave our planet a better place than we found it.

Again, thank you for your support and we look forward to working with you in 2010!

Respectfully yours,

Linda Strand
